The North Carolina Virtual Public School AP Government and Politics teachers are hosting a mock election for all NCVPS students.
On Tuesday, March 8th, all NCVPS students are invited to partake in a mock election, one week before the North Carolina Primary. The North Carolina Primary, the real one, is Tuesday, March 15th.
Prior to the mock election, students will receive information regarding registering to vote, elections, political affiliation quizzes, information on the candidates for office, and the impact of voter apathy. Students should look for an announcement each day in their learning block.
Our goal is to make our students be more aware of the political world in which they live in, and it allows them to have a voice if they are not yet legally eligible to vote.
Here’s the schedule of events:
Tuesday 3/1 – Students will be given information regarding registering to vote and voter requirements, the function of a primary, and information dealing with the election process.
Wednesday 3/2- Students will be presented with a series of political affiliation quizzes and information on the Republican and Democratic parties
Thursday 3/3- Students will be presented with a series of political affiliation quizzes and information on the Republican candidates for office.
Friday 3/4- Students will be presented with a series of political affiliation quizzes and information on the Democratic candidates for office.
Monday 3/7- Students will be given information regarding voter apathy and why their vote counts.
Tuesday 3/8- Students will vote for the candidate of their choice.
We look forward to sharing the results before the actual North Carolina primaries. This is an exciting opportunity for ALL NCVPS STUDENTS!
