The NCVPS Super Student Award is for students who have gone above and beyond the course requirements and as a result have enriched the content, class dynamic, their own learning, their classmates’ learning, and even their teacher’s learning.
“NCVPS welcomed me with open arms as I started my first class with them! It was very easy for me to get the hang of the system and help from multiple sources allowed me to gain the basic knowledge I needed to know about it. Taking an online course advanced my education by allowing me to be immersed in my education like never before, being able to have some sort of say over my schedule and always having access to work. My mind was opened up to a lot of different possibilities that I could take use of which would help me with my work, such as the Peer Tutoring Center if I ever needed help.” –Heather M.
“Heather was so intuitive! She worked on time, asked questions, always wanted to know more, and was very communicative! She cared about the course and was receptive to getting to know me more! She always went above and beyond, and I wish every online student was just like her.” –Megan Townsend, NCVPS French Teacher
Advice for Online Students
My advice to other online students would be to get to know your teacher and classmates because although you can’t physically see them, they could have great benefit in helping you and guiding you along the way through your course.
I don’t necessarily have a favorite site, but I love any website where I get to interact and be immersed in what I’m doing whether it’s playing games or reading an article.
Gadgets and Things
My favorite technology gadget would have to be any Virtual Reality headset. I find it so interesting how far our technology has gotten and how immersed we can make ourselves in a situation that we aren’t truly in at the time!
The Future Heather
In the future, I hope to graduate college and hopefully (fingers crossed) save up enough money to go exploring around the world with either some friends or alone to create some awesome memories and see what the world is like outside of our little bubble.
I have never had any cavities or broken any bones in my body yet.
My favorite book would have to be Looking For Alaska by John Green. I prefer printed books and have a huge collection with many different genres in my room. To me, reading a book is more than looking at a screen and with a paperback, I can sit back, relax, and see the words create a great story while feeling the actual work in my hands.
There are so many songs I love it would be very hard to pick a favorite but I would have to say Ed Sheeran is one of my all time favorite artists because I can relate to and really get into the music and the story that is being told.
Guardians of the Galaxy is my favorite movie hands down and Friends is my all time favorite show.
Something interesting is that I’m actually from the smallest state, Rhode Island. Another thing about my family is that in Scotland, any mountain above 3,000 feet is called a Munro, which is my last name before being Americanized into Munroe!
For this semester my goal is to study hard and keep up my “all A” record while being a student athlete. It will definitely be a challenge, but I’m looking forward to finishing up the year strong!
