“Taking Spanish 1 has given me more ownership of my learning, by creating a schedule to get assignments turned in and on time. It also has allowed me to get feedback on assignments from my teacher so I can be more successful.” – Audrey A.
“Audrey is a superstar in Spanish class! She completes her work on time and often goes above and beyond the expectations for the assignments. Her reflections on Costa Rican culture show a deep analysis of the material she has learned.” – Ms. Jennifer Garcia O’Neill, NCVPS Spanish 1 Instructor
Audrey’s Story
I am a student who strives to do my best in everything I do. I always want to create quality products, pay attention to small details, and make connections to the world around me. I think that my parents guiding me through everyday life has shaped me to be who I am today. Something that makes me, me is that I dance, I play travel and school volleyball, and I am an attentive sister to my brother and sister.
Online Experience
I have taken Spanish 1 because I want to have a head start to my high school education. Taking this course will allow me to be able to take one less class in college, which will free up time so I can take other college classes in high school.
I think a pleasant surprise from taking the Spanish class would be the quizzes. They don’t count toward your final grade, and you are able to retake them to get the practice in.
Some advice I would have for other students would be to stay on top of your assignments, make sure things are turned in, and try to get ahead as much as possible.
Life Outside of School
In my free time, I play volleyball, take dance lessons, hang out with my friends, and listen to music.
I don’t have a favorite book, but I like to listen to the podcast that is called Six Minutes. It tells the story of a girl that is adopted-she knows that. But what she doesn’t know is how she got there. Later she finds out she is a robot that was created after the death of an inventor’s daughter. He was lonely, so he made a robot version that looks just like her. My favorite song author is Morgan Wallen, because I love country music. My favorite show is Full House because it is funny and relatable.
Goals & Future Plans
The goal I have had this semester is to make the travel and school volleyball team. To reach this goal, I have practiced my skills, and always looked for ways to improve. Since then, I have made both teams.
I plan to get into medical school and become a cardiothoracic surgeon. To reach this goal, I will do my best in school, and set up my priorities in a working order.
Personal Notes
Places I have traveled were to Washington D.C., Florida, and Tennessee. Me and my family camp in a camper around North Carolina and other states close to us.
Fun Facts
My favorite snack is strawberries.
One item I could not live without is my Bible.
