Sample of Kendall’s Work
“Kendall is doing an excellent job in Visual Arts One! She is super creative and an awesome student. She pays attention to the fine details in her artwork and is a pleasure to have in class!” – Alicia Swackhamer, NCVPS Visual Arts Instructor
Kendall’s Story
As a student, I believe that I am very motivated and optimistic because of the school that I attend, which enforces a good work ethic and long-term motivation. As an individual, I think I am very creative and patient, which leads me to the success I have today.
Online Experience
I took Intro to Visual Arts over the summer. I wanted to take a class through NCVPS because I have always wanted to expand my knowledge in art, and it would allow me to take more advanced placement courses at my school.
Taking an online course advanced my education because it allowed me to learn from anywhere and take the classroom with me wherever I went. My education was changed because I had to be even more responsible with deadlines and put my best foot forward when there wasn’t a physical classroom to get work done in.
Some advice that I have for other online students is to keep up with deadlines and take advantage of the fact that your classes are online! Study at the park or start a study group!
Life Outside of School
In my free time, I like to read classical books and do Pilates! I also really enjoy getting coffee with my friends and playing animal crossing! My favorite musician is Ethel Cain, and my favorite song by her is “A House in Nebraska.”
Fun Facts
An interesting fact about me is that I have been vegetarian for about 4 years!
My favorite snack is the plant-based rainbow Goldfish crackers!
I could not live without my headphones because I am always listening to music
Goals & Future Plans
A goal I had this semester was to be proud of each piece of work I produced. Some things I did to work towards that goal were putting my best effort into the projects I was required to do, and making sure that everything I did was intentional and beneficial.
My future plans are to attend a 4-year college and eventually get my PhD in medical technology after a while. Some steps I will take to achieve this goal are by keeping up with deadlines and more importantly, remembering where I come from and the things I stand for.
Personal Notes
I have lived in NC my whole life, and I am the youngest in my family and will be a first-generation college student!
I am very grateful to be nominated for this award and I hope that I am able to inspire others.
