Melissa’s NCVPS Experience
Taking an online class is helping me learn how to manage my time. A goal I had for this semester was to not procrastinate. To work towards this goal, I would do my work at school so I didn’t have extra homework and I would start working on school assignments when they were assigned.Â
Melissa’s Online Learning Advice
My advice is to not wait until the last minute to get everything done. Ask your teacher or something if you have a question. They are very helpful and understanding.
Melissa’s Future Goals
My future plans at the time are to continue doing advanced classes throughout high school so I can get ahead and I want to take orchestra classes. I also want to learn a new language so I can then be trilingual. I would like to learn French or Italian. Currently, when I grow up I want to be a doctor. Probably a pediatrician or something to do with children. So I am going to get all As in high school and my hope is to get a scholarship of some type for a college.
Tidbits on Melissa
I also speak/write/read in English and Spanish. This is because my parents are from Mexico, and they wanted us to learn to speak Spanish because it could help us in the future. They enforce us to keep speaking it so that we don’t lose it such as other people we know that no longer speak it too well. So at my house, we only speak Spanish, unless someone that doesn’t speak Spanish is over. I do Battle of the Books at my school. I have been doing it since it was available to me, so 5th grade. This is my 4th year doing it and I really enjoy it. In my 6th and 7th grade year, I was in the production. I really like orchestra. I play the viola and I plan on continuing to play all through high school.
For Fun
I love amusement parks and have been to Universal Studios twice. I like mystery and adventure books. I don’t listen to music that often but when I do I listen to 80s music. There are a lot of songs I like in that decade. If I am not listening to 80s music, I am listening to the Alexander Hamilton soundtrack. I like Marvel movies, Harry Potter movies, MIB, and many other action movies like Jumanji The Next Level. Comedy movies are also fun to watch and I watch Christmas ones during Christmas time.
