Olivia’s Story
I like to think of myself as a driven student. I value having good grades and succeeding/understanding my courses. I really want to learn more about the world and also see it. I want to work hard in order to be able to build the life I want for myself and my family. I would say I’m athletic and caring. I really like to try new things and see new places. I have moved a lot since my dad is in the Air Force, and I’ve also traveled to a lot of different places. With moving so many times, I’ve been able to meet a lot of new people and learn lots of new things. I think what makes me, me is my desire to try new things and to be open-minded. I’ve been able to learn a lot about a lot of different people and places, and it’s given me the opportunity to be able to try new things and see what I like. I wouldn’t have discovered a lot about myself if I hadn’t given myself the opportunity to go in with an open mind and really experience it, and put myself into uncomfortable situations.
Online Experience
I decided to take an NCVPS class so that I could continue learning French. I really want to learn the language, and since they didn’t offer French 3 or 4, I wanted to take it online. I have taken French 3 Honors, Chemistry Honors, and French 4 Honors. It helped change my education by allowing me to learn more. Different teachers have different tips and tricks to help provide the best education possible. Additionally, when I’ve been in classes that confused me, it helped me learn how to reach out for help and also made me learn the subject more thoroughly.
My advice to other online students would be to keep up with the class. It’s easy to forget to do assignments, since you don’t have a teacher verbally reminding you to do something. It’s really helpful to write out each assignment that you have, and to set alarms to remind yourself.
Life Outside of School
In my free time, I really like to play sports, watch movies, and read. I also like to do weightlifting and go on walks.
My favorite musician is Lana del Rey. I really like her music since you can listen to her while studying, driving, reading, etc.
Goals & Future Plans
One goal that I had this semester was to continue to get good grades and to raise my GPA to a 4.5.
In the future, I want to be a doctor. I want to continue to get good grades, as well as make good decisions to succeed.
Personal Notes & Fun Facts
- I have moved 6 times.
- My favorite snack is either mango or cheddar jalapeno cheetos.
- One item that I couldn’t live without is my coffee maker.
- This summer I traveled to Miami, Phoenix, LA, and Toronto, all for the first time except Phoenix.
