The Quality Matters Process
Quality Matters (QM) is a peer review process designed to certify the quality of online and blended courses. QM’s mission is to promote and improve the quality of online education and student learning through the use of a quality assurance system and professional development.
The QM review team uses the QM Rubric to evaluate the design of online and blended courses. Eight general standards provide the foundation for the QM Rubric:
Course Overview and Introduction
- Learning Objectives (Competencies)
- Assessment and Measurement
- Instructional Materials
- Course Activities and Learner Interaction
- Course Technology
- Learner Support
- Accessibility and Usability
The key component of the rubric, however, is the concept of alignment. General Standards 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 must all be aligned with the course standards.
NCVPS is among the top 10 K-12 organizations in the world with QM-certified courses. When you see QM Certification Marks on courses or programs, it means they have met QM Course Design Standards or QM Program Review criteria in a rigorous review process.
NCVPS QM Certified Courses can be found on the Quality Matters Currently QM-Certified page under the K-12 tab.
