The NCVirtual Coding Club recently competed in the North Carolina Business Committee for Education’s Ready, Set, App! competition. The competition was an Android mobile application development challenge for North Carolina public high school and public charter school students. Student teams are tasked with developing a functional and original mobile app that solves a problem in their school or community using a mobile app development platform.
The NCVirtual team included Jonathan Rogers from Northwest Cabarrus High School, Jamari Gift from Onslow Virtual High School, Pranathi Gorty from Wilson Preparatory Academy, Riley Presnell from Eastern Guilford High School, and Nick Lari from Shelby High School. The team’s advisor was Toni Hall, an NCVirtual instructional leader and computer programming and computer science teacher.
The team’s entry was titled College Atlas. College Atlas is a college exploration app that allows students to easily navigate through college choices as they prepare to pursue their post-secondary endeavors. To use the app, students input their preferences by answering a series of questions and allowing the app to determine the best college(s) based on their responses.
The team made it to the final round with their innovative app! Congrats to our amazing coding club. This did all this work virtually.
